Fix: Asus Smart Gesture Not Working

ASUS smart gesture is a smart touchpad driver which can identify finger and palm contact by the user. Different gesture done on the mousepad lead to different actions on the computer through it. Some of the gesture are sliding with two fingers to move pages or sliding with three fingers to switch the program. This way you can easily use your laptop with a more ‘notebook’ feel without having to use the mouse.

Like all other gesture software, ASUS smart gesture is also known to host problems. Sometimes either the gestures don’t get registered or the software doesn’t run at all. This is a known issue in most of ASUS’s laptops. We have listed down all the articles related to this problem. Take a look.

Solution 1: Checking if the touchpad is locked or if ASUS is disabled

Before we start with the extensive troubleshooting, you should check if the very feature is disabled on your computer. Mostly, ASUS laptops have the F9 key which disables or enables the touchpad keyboard. In some cases, it is Fn + F9 . Make sure that the touchpad is working and isn’t locked.

It was also noticed that after a Windows 10 update, the operating system automatically disables this feature. We can try enabling this and see if this fixes the problem.

1. Press Windows + S, type “ settings ” in the dialogue box and open the application.
2. Once in Settings, click Devices .

1. Select the tab Mouse using the left navigation pane and click Additional mouse options .

1. Now head over to ELAN input device and enable the device from there.

Now restart your computer and check if the smart gesture works.

Solution 2: Repairing ASUS Smart Gesture

Before we search for fresh installation copies of the software, it is worth trying to repair it. When you repair any software, Windows checks all the installation files for any discrepancies which may be present or repairs the registry which is set with the software. Furthermore, group policies are also checked and errors are corrected (if any).

1. Press Windows + R, type “ appwiz. cpl ” in the dialogue box and press Enter.
2. Here all the programs installed on your computer will be listed. Navigate through them until you find “ ASUS Smart Gesture ”. Right-click on it and select “ Repair ”.

1. For the process to complete as it might take some time. Restart your computer after the repair and check if the module works as expected.

Solution 3: Rolling Back Driver

Sometimes when a newer version of Windows gets released, it isn’t compatible with all the drivers or software currently present on your computer. If they aren’t, the manufacturers either release a new update or advise you to roll back to a previous version.

If you are experiencing a situation where after updating Windows/driver, the module doesn’t work; you can try rolling back the driver. Do note that you might require administrative privileges to perform this.

1. Press Windows + R, type “ dvmgmt. msc ” in the dialogue box and press Enter.
2. Once in the device manager, expand “ Mouse and other pointing devices ”. Locate ‘ ASUS touchpad ’, right-click it and select Properties .

1. Navigate to the Driver tab and click Roll Back Driver .

2. Now Windows will roll back your driver to a previous version. Restart your computer and check if this fixes the problem.

Solution 4: Resetting to Default

If all the above methods don’t prove to be useful, we can try resetting all the settings back to default. There is also a chance that when you were changing the settings or customizing the module according to your requirements, you might’ve incorrectly set the settings. Do note that resetting the settings back to default will remove all your preferences and you will have to set them again from scratch.

1. Press Windows + R, type “ control ” in the dialogue box and press Enter.
2. Once in the control panel, select Large icons and double-click ASUS Smart Gesture.
3. Once the settings of ASUS Smart Gesture are opened, click on the button “ Set all to default ”.

1. Restart your computer completely and check if this solved the problem.

Solution 5: Downloading Modules

ASUS Smart Gesture depends on several other modules as well in order for correct operation and that no errors occur. These modules are either already installed on your computer or are included in the update package from Windows. Nevertheless, we will install these modules manually one by one and see if they make any difference to your existing situation.

ATK Package 1.0.0051 (64-bit)

Smart Gesture 4.0.17 (64-bit)

Solution 6: Reinstalling ASUS Smart Gesture

If all the above methods don’t work, we have no choice but to reinstall the touch module after downloading it from the website. Do note that you might require administrative access to perform this solution.

1. Press Windows + R, type “ appwiz. cpl ” in the dialogue box and press Enter.
2. Here all the applications will be listed in front of you. Right-click on ASUS Smart Gesture and click Uninstall .
3. Navigate to the official ASUS website and download the software on your computer.

1. Run the installation file and check if the module gets installed successfully.

In addition to these solutions, you can also:

• Navigate to the directory “C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\ASUS Smart Gesture”, right-click on “ bat ” and click Run as administrator .
• Uninstall your current ATK package , and reboot your computer. Now install the latest ATK package and reboot your computer again. Once the ATK package has been installed, try installing ASUS Smart Gesture. Reboot your computer again and check if this works.
• Make sure that you don’t have any other programs conflicting with this software.

How to Fix “Printer is in an error state” Issue?

The error “ WinRAR Error: Next Volume Is Required ” usually appears when you’re extracting a multi-part RAR archive and WinRAR can’t find (or can’t correctly identify) the next file in the sequence . This often happens when a volume is missing , stored in a different folder , or renamed in a way that breaks the archive’s expected order .

In this guide, we’ll go over the most reliable fixes confirmed by affected users, along with what each method is doing behind the scenes so you can choose the right one for your situation.

Important: To extract multi-volume archives, you should always start extraction from the first file in the set. This is usually file.part1.rar , or (in older sets) the main .rar file that comes before .r01 , .r02 , and so on.

1. Download and Place the Missing RAR File

WinRAR needs all parts of a multi-volume archive to complete extraction. This error usually appears when one of the volumes in a set like .part2.rar , .r01 , .r02 , .001 , and similar naming formats is missing . 9. WinRAR should now detect all volumes and continue extraction normally .

2. Manually Browse & Select the Next Volume

Use this method only if the next volume already exists , but WinRAR is failing to detect it automatically. This can happen due to incorrect naming , the file being in a different location , or a temporary file access issue. Manually browsing helps WinRAR locate the correct volume and resume extraction without interruption .

1. Right-click the first file in the series (usually .rar or part1.rar ) and select Extract Here or Extract to Folder .
2. When WinRAR cannot find the next volume, it will show the “ Next Volume Is Required ” message.
3. A small window will appear, allowing you to manually select the next volume .
4. Use the file explorer window to locate the folder where the other archive parts are saved.
5. Select the next part based on the naming order (example: select file.part2.rar after file.part1.rar ).
6. Make sure the selected file matches the naming format of the archive (no extra characters like (1) and no mismatched numbering).
7. WinRAR will resume extraction using the selected volume .

3. Rename the RAR files in Order

WinRAR relies on a proper naming sequence (such as file.part1.rar , file.part2.rar , file.part3.rar ) to extract multi-volume archives. If a file is named incorrectly, contains extra characters, or is out of order, WinRAR may fail to locate the next volume and show this error. Renaming the files correctly helps WinRAR follow the sequence and extract the archive without interruptions .

Note: Renaming only changes the file name , not the file contents. The goal is to restore the correct sequence so WinRAR can detect the next volume.

1. Go to the folder where all the RAR files are saved.
2. Make sure all parts of the archive are present and stored in the same folder .
3. Check how the parts are currently named . Common patterns include:

file.part1.rar, file.part2.rar, file.part3.rar

1. Look for files that don’t match the expected numbering pattern (for example, file.part01.rar , file.part1(1).rar , or unrelated names).
